2nd Saturday Arts Stroll: August 14, 2010 6-9pm

From the Media Arts Council:
Summer Fun at Media’s 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll!

The Media Arts Council (M.A.C.) will host family-friendly fun and more at the 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll on August 14, 6-9pm, in downtown Media, PA. This month features activities especially for children and families, along with the visual arts displays, live music performances and community spirit for which 2nd Saturday has become known.

The Main Event this month is Makin’ Music Rockin Rhythms, the multi-award winning group of talented teachers/performers who have built a following among children and families for their lively performances, classes and camps. Their CDs have won 10 national awards, including Parent’s Choice, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, Children’s Music Web and NAPPA awards, while their weekly music classes have been voted “Best of Philadelphia” and “Best of Main Line”. Makin’ Music performers Sandi Eckberg and Jenni Saunders will perform at the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union at 7pm.

Additional activities for children include face painting with Jeffrey Dougherty, a paint-your-own necklace project with Jolie Shamlian, “Music, Art & Me” with World of Song (begins at 5:30), pipe cleaner critters with Media Arts Council, and free water ice with Friends of the Free Library. And summer could not be complete without tie-dying with the Community Arts Center. For this event, children’s t-shirts will be provided in limited quantity. Participants are also invited to bring their own item to tie-dye.

Photo Recap - DCCC Alumni Artists Showcase 2009-2010

    DCCC Alumni Artists Showcase
This was the 3rd Triennial DCCC Alumni Artists Showcase, and the 3rd time I participated! Three times are a charm, and this year I brought home an "Honorable Mention" award for my mixed-media piece "Spring Fever!"

Check out my press feature from Philly.com!
My Press Quote - “I love Delaware County and local art,” she said. “I’m trying to break out into the world of art, and I come back here, and I feel like a big fish in a little pond.”
I was so happy that other Media Arts Council Registered Artists also got their start at DCCC, and showed in this year's showcase, like Papi Houpt! Papi won first place for the painting category in the 2007 Alumni Artists Showcase.

I would like to thank Cynthia Robinson, the DCCC Alumni Director, for her unwavering support of all Alumni throughout the years. She goes above and beyond to keep us all up-to-date on the happenings of DCCC no matter where we are in the country, or abroad!
